New CD!

In keeping with the current mood of the country, what began as a "no"-net gave way to the formation of the Chicago Yestet but with enormous national debt from the last decade, two U.S. foreign occupations raging indefinitely, financial bailouts for wallstreet, real unemployment at around 25%, 46 million people without health insurance and a Congress that continues to "dither" on meaningful healthcare reform, the "change" we voted for seems less and less likely. At least there's still music...isn't there? The band consists of 7 of Chicago's busiest horn players, a thumping rhythm section, vocals and the spoken word sophistry of Rob Dz. We play original, groove-oriented jazz music that, in a spirit of bipartisanship, reaches across the aisle and smacks you in the mouth.

We honor the many courageous musicians in all traditions willing to become relevant, to take a stand, to speak out and work for peace and justice through art. Thanks to Charles Mingus, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Fela Kuti, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Charlie Haden, Bob Marley, Rage Against the Machine and many others for paving the way!

Our new CD is out. Read the Chicago Jazz Magazine's review of the CD here, and also the review in Madison's Isthmus here. The CD is available for sale through iTunes and CDBaby.

You can see us live on a recording from Dec. 2008 at the Green Mill in Chicago. View us here.

"In short, the Yestet is a large ensemble performing new compositions with underlying grooves and beautiful melodies. This is an impressive CD."
